I have never been a big fan of guns. My general rule of thumb is if it isn't shooting at you, then don't shoot at it. However with the recent extremely tragic events that have occurred around our great nation it is looking like the government is going to step in sometime soon and do something "government like". Knowing how many guns are already out there and also knowing that the government will never keep them out of the hands of deranged idiots no matter how hard the government tries I went out and bought my first gun this evening. It is a Springfield Armory XD, 5 inch barrel and .45 caliber. I live out in the middle of nowhere. When you walk out of my house all you hear are cows and crickets. No expressways, no trains.....just nature. I don't think I can rely on the police to make it out here in time if some actual gun wielding deranged idiot decides to stroll down my driveway. At least now I can take care of my home and family should some extreme event like that happen. I pray it never does. But if it ever did... I don't want to pray for a gun!

I looked at a Kel-tec PF9 a little while back. I must have missed the belt clip, looks like a nice idea. I did get a chance to fire one, they have a very long pull.

Fast and Furious that was aimed directly at our 2nd amendment, treason as far as I'm concerened. We don't need a govt that does things like that. We also really need to step back and take a good look at all the psychotropic drugs being prescribed. Children should never under any circumstances be prescribed any of these drugs. Seems every time an incident happens it doesn't take long before it comes out that the person or people were on some type of those drugs.

Springfield XDS

I just missed out on a Springfield XDS today. They had one at our local gun shop. A guy got there 60 seconds before me and bought it. It was selling for $599. Not too bad considering how hard they are to come by and they advertise it is the smallest .45 out there. I offered him $100 bucks to walk away but he didn't fall for it (DAMN IT!!) It is a great little concealed carry piece and I really want one. I'll find another one eventually I hope.

Here is a link to the webpage:

I'll keep my fingers crossed. Maybe one day....

Been a big fan of weapons for a long time. Have lots of long guns, no pistols ( yet ). I do think that for Home ( not personal per-se ) protection a shotgun is invaluable. Has lots of take down power and in the middle of the night can be aimed efficiently enough to hit the target multiple times if needed. Also the projectiles have a tough time penetrating multiple walls lessening the chance of hitting something/someone in another part of the residence. Although the pattern needs to be choked down to minimize the impact zone.
As far as bans go, criminals will use whatever is needed to do the damage desired, case in point, Oklahoma City bombing.

I am very much encouraged about the future of this nation after reading all the Gun posts! Next to drag racing Fords, its the next best thing to tinker with, hot rod guns!
I have a house full and all my children (7) could handle, clean and shoot any one of them before they were 12 or so. Guns are like tools, they will only do what someone wants them to do! God Bless America, and God Bless all you Good Americans out there!

Springfield XDS .45 ACP

I finally got a Springfield XDS .45 ACP. I found it on CheaperThanDirt.com for $559. It is a very nice piece. I only have about 200 rounds through it so far but it has worked flawlessly since new.

Next Stop: Smith and Wesson .44 Magnum 629. That will have to wait for a bit though. It is about $950 and I have a Mustang to finish first.

If you haven't gotten a carry holster yet, check out Crossbreed Holsters. I use their mini tuck for my XDS and it's a fantastic set up. Disappears even with tee shirt and shorts. Actually my wife and I use Crossbreeds for everything we own. IMHO, the best holsters made.

Rock River?

Has anybody heard of Rock River Arms Company? My local gun shop is selling these for $850 (See link below). I don't know anything about them other than they are American made in Illinois and they come with a life time warranty. I was thinking about getting one because I didn't want to pay a premium price for a Colt LE6920. $850 seems to be a decent price for what it is. I was just seeking some input because I was considering getting one and am very limited in my knowledge on this subject.

Chris, Rock River is a good brand of AR, and one of the biggest names out there. Are they "the best"? No, but they're definitely far from the worst. That's a really decent price for one. We use a lot of their stripped lowers when building a custom gun. Let me see.....Ummmmmm....to put it in BBF terms, they're a set of aluminum TFS 290 street heads. 90% of people would be more than happy to have them :)

Hey thanks for the replies guys. It helps. I went into the shop to check out the new Windham Weaponary AR and the guy behind the counter was trying to sell me on the Rock River. They had a lot of Rock Rivers so I'm guessing that is why the price was so low. I just didn't know anything about them and I'm always skeptical when a sales guy is trying to push something.

an ar15 in 223/556 with soft point rounds is WAY safer then a hand gun or shotgun in a home. The AR round will not penetrate both pieces of drywall! A .45 with a hollow point round will not expand when it hits drywall, it just loads the hollow point with sheetrock and now its a round nose and will penetrate many walls before coming to a stop. The high speed and light weight of the 223/556 is perfect, it goes through body armor like butter but not through a wall into your kids room. Please look into this it could save someones life if you ever have to shoot in a home!

Ps. its very important what ammo you choose, the 40 grain V-Max is great for home defense. In my AR I like a double 30 round mag setup with 25 rounds in each mag (don't kill the springs when sitting along time). Also next to my AR is my HK USP45, Saiga 12, 380 ruger and my personal favorite my suppressed walther p22 so I can choose the right weapon accordingly lol :)

Banned the re-import of "military" firearms and imposed a fingerprint requirement for employment with companies that own their own firearms so that "Felons aren't allowed to have access to firearms through their employer........and this is going to be able to protect poor little children from big bad guys and prevent things like Sandy Hook from happening". wtF!!!??? I'm telling 'ya people, this moron and his lackeys are focused on dis arming the general populous for some reason that I'm not quite sure of yet......Maybe the NWO bull s*it??? Better open your eyes.......

So much for the M1 carbines from South Korea and Garands that where given away, and payed for with our tax money. Plus alot of other nice antique weapons too. Is a Luger, P38, 1911 ect. going to included, or just long guns? Also just another way to fingerprint everyone and get them in a database. DNA will be next, you will see. Only going will get worse.

I used to carry a 1836 Colt Navy black powder 35 caliber in my truck because it was exempt from federal firearms rules. Classed an antique weapon it was legal everywhere. Most people considered them as inaccurate and unable to hit much past 3 or 4 yards. Plus it takes about 4 min to reload. I just saw on the news where 3 men were arrested for carrying them at a pro gun rally in TX. When did they make them illegal ?

Nice! I love lever actions. Just had to sell my Marlin Cowboy 45-70 Octagon because the Mach 1 took too much money to finish haha...I'm 33 years old, but I'm into old school, especially firearms. Cast my own bullets/reload, and I haven't got a "composite" gun in my collection....except my SKS, which has a Dragunov stock, but I don't count that P.O.S.......

Lever actions are my fav also I have three more. two Marlins 1 22 and 1 30/30 also have a Winchester 45/70. the 22 Marlin is clip fed a part I do not really like as it only holds 7 rounds and makes for a lot of time reloading it is too easy to blow thru a 7 round clip playing with tin cans bouncing them down the lane.

I couldn't take it any longer. I broke down and bought a Windam Weaponry AR-15. I love it. I have about 1000 rounds through it now. Very accurate. And I just bought a Bushnell 2X red dot scope for it.

If you want to have some fun with that "evil black rifle", check out the Nikon 223 scope with the BDC reticle. Excellent price, excellent scope. They are on sale right now as well. Even comes with a great one piece mount for your top rails.
Even my wife can consistently hit bullseyes from 400 yards with it.
It's amazing how accurate an AR can be. Eugene Stoner designed a superb weapon.

Top slide Thompson sub-machine gun I just got done redoing for a friend of mine....Because a Tommygun has to have a 100 round drum :). But, dammit, is it heavy fully loaded. You can see in the pic of me holding it how bad the finish on the drum was. Working on the violin case for it now.

I hope that you meant a Semi-Automatic Thompson. If if where a legally registered Submachinegun, he's got the wrong barrel on it! It should have a "10 barrel then.

(Machine-guns are legal in 40+ states for civilians-for those that didn't know.)

Anyway, the semi auto Thompson is heavy/the "16+barrel length looks goofy and they have HORRIBLE triggers. I used to have one (M1 version) but since Wash state won't allow SBR (Short Barreled Rifles) i couldn't get over the goofy looking barrel. So i sold it years ago.

Agreed on the barrel looking off, and yes, quite heavy. I've shot a few fully autos, and while fun, a guy better hope he hits whatever he's shooting at on the 1st or 2nd shot.....I've never shot one that didn't walk all over the place. When you get done, it's like: "Well, that was cool. But there went $30 in ammo" haha.....
