Has the filter been checked for debris? What about the cam bearings? What kind of spring pressure are you running? Are the lifters coming out of the bore?

It's always a good idea to prefill the filter....

It's always a good idea to prefill the filter. That way the engine doesn't have to run without any oil circulating. How long did you run it? I'll bet the filter is still filling.
