As has been mentioned....comp. ratio, at some point, has a diminishing return.

A guy aint gonna get the same gain from going to 14/1 to 16/1 that he got from going to 12/1 to 14/1 .

I think you have touched the high points already.....quick & easy cam adjustments + the crankshaft and camshaft don't 'talk' to each other.

It comes down to budget....the D. bee unit is best but,...

The FRPP 514/521 crate engine's cam is 254*/258* 112 lsa which is not a a comp street roller. The lifters are crane.

I'll let others speak to how much would be milled off of the intake side but, it'll need to happen i.m.o.

The other issue would be the loss of valve to piston clearance.

Mostly with the VR1 + 159.....why is this? It's like XR7cat said, VR1 is easy to find + the 159 juice can arrive...

The P51 heads have required less total ign. timing than the other bbf heads I've been involved with. Most wanted ~ 28* with big compression like your 14/1 engine.
