Right off the top, unless you're planning on running 1/8th mile or you're going to run some 44" sized tires or spin that motor to 9K, your tail gears will be way low for a 550 horse low RPM motor....

The TH 400's are 3 speeds :D. But you probably knew that. IMO the C-6 is every bit as good as the TH 400's. In a BBF usage scenario you're way ahead by using the C-6 price wise by the time you buy a...

Copy that Scotty. :) Like I said, I wasn't trying to be mean or judgemental. Just trying to help someone develop a realistic engineering based knowledge base to learn from. Far too many people get...

Valve overlap has to be figured into the equation here. Otherwise it's just a guess on the ratio. A tight quench is always a factor to chase on an engine that will be used at a lower RPM in a high...

Thank you cat. Good information.
The engine that I had together did in fact have right at .020" P/H clearance and it did (mysteriously) run without P/H interference. Not for long because I ran pump...

Lem is right. Torque values come from the diameter, material, lube and thread count(?) of the fastener that is being used. Torque values are designed to put a very specific stretch to the fastener...

I'm going to go out on a limb here and guess that the early blocks with the .020" shorter decks would have had higher compression. I'm not familiar with what the piston looked like but I do know that...
