I think it does make sense if the engine was done by a rebuilding outfit that uses reground cams(many do) and during that process they also would grind the journals to .010 undersize.

I'm just saying that I've seen a chamber look like that when there wasn't anything wrong with the engine. It just got that way when the engine was shut off.
