I think Larry has the know how,he just needs more backing from Ford and sponsorship help for research and testing.

Just think what Larry could do if Ford gave him some of the money they give to Force to paint his valve covers blue and put BOSS 500 decals on?

Sure looks like Ford is more involved in Stock and Super Stock with the Cobra Jet stuff then Pro Stock.

It's nice to see some of the independent teams running Fords.

There is an interview with Warren Johnson in the new Hot Rod magazine and in it talks about the need for LOTS of r&d to stay competitive which means lots of money !

Ford's big on the Cobra's for sure.

The rumor is Morgan's coming out with something that should help him improve his situation considerably...if I had to guess an alliance of some sort...not the wedge heads as many hoped.

We'll see. It would be nice to see a Ford win a round.

Question

Does anyone know if the Fords are making the same power as the Chevy's and Dodge's? If they are, then is it setup, driver, or aero? If they are down on power is it heads, cam, or something else..

Pro Stock is my favorite Pro class to watch, just like to see a Ford do better.

If the mph is down from the rest which it is, it's HP. And I'm sure it's all in the cylinder heads....

MPH could be aero, it sure looks to me that the Mustang sure has a ton more frontal area than the GM and Dodge cars.

It doesn't take much more square inch @ 150- 200 mph to make a big difference.

I wonder if NHRA will eventually go to some body templates ? If you could look at the bodies parked next to a stock body you could really see some of the differences.

While the class (PS) is better today, then back in the late 90's early 2000's. Those were the days where is was called, "Firebird Eliminator." It's still not a big draw with fans. Of course there's the die hard Pro Stock lovers, but most people really don't care. The cars may look a lot closer to the showroom models, but 500 cu engines with 2 carburetors are no where to be found on any production car today.

Nor do they have blowers and run on nitro methane but the big draws are top fuel classes.

I disagree,ProStock is not better today. ProStock is doomed imo because of NHRA. They are having a hard time making a full 16 car field these days. When they went North,15 is all they could get to come. and three of those were nobodies. Warren Johnson, son Kurt, and Erica Enders were no shows. Sad day in Drag Racing when they lose Pro Stock.
