I SEE WHAT YOU MEAN ABOUT NOT BEING HAPPY, THAT'S A LOW NUM FOR THAT ENGINE
Rich, I'm not saying Q16 isn't a good fuel and doesn't make more power than C16, NO2...etc but I would rather not use it, just personal preference...

What kind of power do you think this motor should have made?

Both kits have baby jets in them right now, .022N and .024N but will both be in the .030's by next season. This year is almost over and I still have work to do to get the car out, so I won't be able to take too many babysteps with the tuneup this year.

That's a bad combo and just shy of 1000 sounds good to me all motor. Should wake up nicely with the 2 foggers. What do you plan to use the car for?

I'm hoping the nitrous really wakes it up!
Really only plan to use it in our local 10" tire shootouts.

If what you are saying is all that has been done while on the dyno, you are just getting started on the tune. W/engine setup for nos it is not at its best w/o it so,your #'s may be down some but not much imo w/unported heads/intake and mild race compression.. Nice engine.

Yes, it has only been on the dyno without nitrous. I realize this is a nitrous setup and it should really wake up when on the bottle! I hope to find out how it acts on one small kit tonight, but it may just end up being motor passes for the first time out in over a year...we will see, and thank you for the compliment.

Sorry guys, I was only able to go to the track one time, and get four passes in before I discovered a problem...the 10* locks on the exhaust valve were possibly "Monday" locks and they got through quality control and past the engine assembler. No damage to the motor was done but it had to come out to have the locks replaced and the valve tips groud and dressed again.

Either way, the first pass off the trailer (and best pass of the day) went 5.69 @ 122.8 and a 9.01 @138 letting off before the 1000' - due to a 4.30 gear. This was with 27* of total timing, any more than that and it would spin out of the hole.

I hope to have the engine back and in the car this weekend, and go back to the track next weekend, depending on the weather...

Hi, I'm trying to figure out what gears I need in my car. What are you shifting @? what RPM did you let off @ and what size tire are you running?

Thanks,

Rob

I was on a 275/60/15 M/T Pro, and I must say I like how stable the radials are compared to slicks!
I shifted at 7400 on the first and second pass, I short shifted the third pass, around 6500 and then shifted at 7700 on the last pass.. I let off at different times on each pass ranging from just after the 1/8 to as far as the gear would let me go, right around the 1000' mark. If you need to figure out a gear, just go to Pro-Systems and use their calculator and you can see what gear you will need for a given height tire and gear combo... http://www.prosystemsracing.com/calculate.html
