mr/mrs 1000 yards First On Race Day
Default np-435

Took my 79-250 out for some spring Fling and when i used reverse to get out it popped out of gear 3 times so i held it in reverse and got out. Drove home and all seemed ok. Now it grinds going into 2nd gear both up shifting and down shifting. Any help would be welcomed. I will pull the tranny out but was hoping on some info on what it could be first.

CATCARL First On Race Day

Is the shifter coming all the way back against the seat like usual? I have seen the shifting fork bend almost to the point of breaking off, when this happened it would not alowing it to go all the way in gear. Also are you sure its a 435? I know the Borg Warners had trouble with the small idler gears and that would affect Reverse and second gear. I would remove the floor first and pull the top cover off before pulling the whole trans. Might get lucky and find the broblem in the shifting tower.
