Default Timing pointer??????

Can someone tell me the differance between the stamped sheet metal pointer sold on E-bay and the nail looking pointer I have on the two engines I have?
I can pull out the nail looking ones with just a pair of pliers.

Thanks for any help

Thanks, it looks like both pointers end up at the same location.
do you know if the sheet metal pointer uses the hole that my nail
pointer is installed into?

The sheet metal pointer uses the bolt directly to the right and the bolt to the left down by the oil pan.
