Default In car video question

I was just reading through Bills post here www.460ford.com/forum/showthread.php?t=137576 about in car video. I didnt want to highjack his thread.

So what do you guys use to film your in car video? I once tried to use an old VHS camcorder (few years ago) but the solid mount I rigged up made it look like crap. I watched Doug Rahns video and was very vivid and the others videos looked good as well as far as handling the vibrations go.

I'd like to hear what recording equipment you folks use as well as how they are mounted. Thanks, Dave S.

I have use a variety of different cameras over time. The vibration and electronic noise will make good video a challenge. A camera such as the Fuji used on the other post use flash memory for storage of the video. Obviously you have a computer. The current crop of ccd/flash memory cameras make mounting easier. Depending on the sanctioning body, a 3 pound camera propelled your direction from the bungie cord mount is frowned apon . The lack of tape really stabilizes the picture. I always tried to stick with mini dv but I think tape drives hate race cars. Tres....

Thanks guys. I just bought a new JVC Mini DV I was going to try. Now that you guys mention it, maybe a flash type camera would be best since there is no tape that has to slide over the recording head, as long as the electronic noise isnt too bad.

Thanks for the link Doug, lots of neat toys!
