While checking out my redone wiring, I rechecked my oil out of habit due to all the clacking going on from my rockers as usual just after startup. This time however I had water in there. The most ive done is move the car in and out of its parking spot over the past week. What im looking for here is if you had a hole in your hood the shape and size of a hilborn type scoop how could the water get into the oil? Carb is covered just not the area around the carb. It rained for 3 days straight and seems to have worked its way in there. Ive checked the oil about once a week since im unfamiliar with how a 460 acts and this is the first time its done that rain or not.

Well it was enough to make the oil change color I can only assume its been in there for about 2 days or so, and yeah it was really flippin cold and now warm again. Ill drain this weekend and see how much it is. I'm asuming the worse hoping for the best.

I would do that then run it a little and check it again, if you have water after that I would check the simple things first like loose intake bolts, timing cover bolts and if that dont get the problem taken care of you might have to pull the intake. I always use permatex around the water passages on intake gaskets on the head side.

i would pressure check your cooling system to see if it is leaking down. if you pull the drain plug and water comes out first i doubt it is condensation more likely a intake leaking.

Id say about 2 tablespoons of water came out first, then all the oil. The oil was an off color to. I can't really describe it, it wasnt green not brown maybe something in the middle like pea soup. It was prety thick also my oil sucker was having problems getting it out. Yes indeed, I pulled my valve covers off and saw that glorious water. I ran the car for about10 secs after doing a oil change and drain and flush on the radiator and of course water and oil shot out of the pushrods. New intake gaskets on the way. And if thats not it heads come off...*sigh

Well, unlucky for me, two oil changes in two weeks still plenty of water in there. I can run the water pump and not loose any fluid. I can run the motor and not loose any fluid, but if i run both, my coolant slowly starts depleting. I am feeling a little bit lost.

Is this a recent rebuild? If so, have you retorqued the intake and timing cover bolts? It's not uncommon for them to loosen up in the first few heat cycles.

Not that I'm aware of, I just changed the intake gaskets this past weekend though and put it back on. I let the pan drain from Monday until Tuesday, filled it back up. But to no avail. It really doesnt make sense to me at all. Even residual shouldnt give me the quantity that I am getting out of the oil pan.

Time for a pressure test. Pull the spark plugs and apply pressure. See if water is filling the cylinders. Could be a cracked cylinder or bad head gasket.

Have you checked the water passages in the timing cover?

There are some things I can't do at the moment that I need to do. I have a broken ring finger with a splint covering half my hand. You should have seen me balancing that intake on my splint so I could keep the gaskets lined up straight it was a miracle
. When I can take this stupid thing off ill get in there and take the timing chain cover off and do some pressure checks, etc. Thanks all for the advice. I'll let you all know what I broke when I find out..
