“I figure a cam with 240ish @ .050 on a 110 with .600" lift. Should be pretty common for a decent 466.

I have zero cam/valvetrain stuff that is roller so I would starting from scratch.

The combo is a 466, stock crank, eagle sir-I beams, probe srs forged pistons, home ported d3 heads (2.19/1.71 valves), torker II, 850 race demon.”

Tyler,

The combo sounds good. Before giving up on the flat tappets, IMHO, I would be looking at something like this:

Instead of the 112 LSA, have them do a 108 LSA. That is not a real-fast acting cam, so doing a correct break-in, you shouldn't have problems. With your combo, you'll be looking at around 500 hp, maybe a little more. Spend the money (that you would normally spending on the more expensive roller set-up) and get some good TFS rocker arms and good Johnson EDM solid flat tappets. If Lunati offers any special coating or heat-treat on the cam, upgrade that also. If you're not too familar with setting up the valvetrain geometry, find someone who is good. There are tricks to doing a valvetrain, and that can make the difference between one that lasts and one that doesn't.

And again, IMHO.

Dave

I hear ya . . . I was looking at the lunati voodoo cams as well.

the only monkey wrench is I will be spraying the motor 150-200, so that 112lsa would work pretty well on the spray. Would love to get in the 5s in the 1/8. Should do it . . . 2700lbs mustang, built th400, etc.

I have a comp magnum 292 (and springs/lifters) that I got for $100. But I know the single pattern really isn't the way to go with such a terrible exhaust port let alone with nitrous . . . but I am "cheap" and I already have it so why not

I've worked at a few shops before, interned at Jon Kaase's, volunteer for Andy Kelley's nitro funny car, and just hired on with Warren Johnson enterprises . . . I've been around a few motors before, I've also put a few together as well.

But to answer your question, I bought the comp golds (rocker arms) off a guy on here.
