Default Need Help Monster Torque out of 89 F350

I got a 1989 F350 Crew Cab Long Box that I am rebuilding the engine. What I am really looking for is my 466 to put out lots of torque, sound really mean and keep it on pump gas. Before tearing it out it was getting 12MPG on EFI, I later found out cylinder #7 wasn’t firing due to an oil leak inside. Hoping to keep it in the low to mid teens MPG after the build. That is before I throw on a 9 inch lift and 35” tires.

Bored it .030 over
New pistons (Stock replacements +.030)
Polished the crank
Main cap studs
Head studs
New heads D3VE-A2A
Exhaust headers
New water pump
Gear to gear timing
Hydraulic lifters
4X4 Extreme Cam (Comp Cams .514 lift #FFX4256H11)
New pushrods
Remote dual oil filters
Re-ring on the flywheel
Dual 14” electric fans
Holly truck avenger carburetor 770 CFM
2” Carb spacer
Torker intake manifold
Stock rockers (don’t want to machine the head to install roller rockers, plan on doing that later)

Right now I have run into a few snags:
Cant find the correct intake and exhaust gaskets for the D3VE A2A Heads
New high flow oil pump wont fit stock oil pan (plan on welding up my own later on, and to keep stock for now)
I don’t know the correct clearance between the oil pickup and the pan (all stock for now)

IF ANYONE HAS ANY HINTS TRICKS ADVICE PLEASE GIVE ME ALL YOU GOT!
Out in Minnesota so no emissions test necessary.

nice lookin truck
things i'd change would be the intake.
id go with a dual plane...performer 460.
D3 heads take same gaskets as Dove heads.
Edit: i thought you had torker 2... idk how good the torker is at lower rpm.

Thanks,
I have the performer 460 but I thought the torker might be better. Whats the diffrence in power between them?

If it is an open Plenum Torker II it will move the power & torque band up from 1800 to 2500 & move the peak numbers up as well. Use the 460 Performer unless you have 4.56 gears Min.

Higher revs but you will loose some of the street-ability.

Edit while they are out grind out the smog humps on the exhaust side ports.

WTF would you put a 9" lift on a CC LB and use 35" tires? I can fit 35s on my 1990 CC LB with stock suspension. Nine inches of lift, PAH!!!! You could fit 44s with 9" of lift.

Wooo Sahhh.

As far as suspension lift and bigger tires go, use a Sky Manufacturing 3" Shackle Reversal kit in the front, a shackle flip in the rear with 6" lift springs, get rid of your factory lift block, and have an F-350 that rides like an F-150. Taller is NOT better, nor is it cool. A low center of gravity, great ride and articulation, with the biggest tire possible, now thats cool. And thats what the above setup will do for you.

Tell me what tranny you are running, and I'll tell you what axle gearing you need. The first step towards both good fuel economy and great torque is getting your drivetrain geared correctly.

i dissagree with pitbull on that one, more clearance in the fenderwell looks 10x better then tryin to see how big of a tire you cant stuff in there,
but at the same time im agreeing with you on the fact that 35's are way to small for that
i got a 77 highboy with 3 inch leaf blocks and i got 35's that fit perfect

I'm not talking about having a wheelwell full of tire that rubs on everything every time you turn the wheel, I'm talking about having this:

instead of this: http://www.thprd.com/imagelibrary/im...r%20Truck1.jpg
or this: http://www.diseno-art.com/images/bigfoot_5.jpg

I know I COULD put larger tires on, but unlike most people who are gouging out their wheel wells I plan on closing it in. Granted i'm doing this because I havent seen one like that and I think it would look better and give me more bed space.

I'm just trying this out, if it doesnt work out I can allways cut it out.

I am pretty sure the transfer case and diff are stock. I’ve done a little research and I think I have a Dana 60. That’s a few projects away but I’ll be tearing into them and rebuilding them soon, hopefully puting new gears in.

Does anyone know the stock gears for my truck? (89 F350 CrewCab LongBox 7.5L)

89F350, are you talking about basically flattening out your wheel wells in the bed, or making your wheel opening on the fenders smaller? The former seems like a cool idea, the latter seems a little... Caddilac, lol. Be sure to show us if you do it.

The fifth gear is overdrive. And the transfercase has 2H/4H/4L gears

I do like that idea of flatening out the wells

I was planing on choping the wheel wells out and welding in a lower resses.
That way there is still room for some up travel, while freeing up some bed space.
So kind of a little of both.

Default Vacuum Diagram??

Does anyone have a vacuum diagram for this truck? (89 F350 7.5L/460) Or any similar vehicle of the same year?
