Are the heads stock out of the box or has there been any port work done to them? Detailed information can go a long way to answer question like this. Or has Jon did these heads for you?
there has been a few write ups on some 598-605's with CNC'd A460 head that made close to 1000hp around 7000rpm on this site. If you want much more then that you might want to go with C460 heads.
With a 600 inch engine, I would say one can come awful close to those 1,000 horsepower numbers with using Kaase's P-51 heads ... over 1,100 HP with the "A" heads, for sure.
These heads have been ported and matched with the intake. With these heads and intake on a 521 we ran a 5.81 in our 2900 lb car. This same combo ran 5.50 in a 2550 lb car.
Here one build up for you to check out. There are several other as well. Go to the search and type in 598, 605, a460 ect and you'll find some really good reading.
IF I RECALL CORRECTLY WE MADE 1039HP WITH A 572 A-HEADED MOTOR BACK IN LIKE 1993-94 SOMEWHERE AROUND THERE WITH 1 CARB AND A CAST MANIFOLD ON KAASE'S DYNO. I REMEMBER ON THE FIRST GO AROUND WE HAD SOME BAD LUCK A MALLORY WEIGHT FLEW OFF THE CRANK WHILE DYNOING. WAS PROBABLY THE ONLY PART ON THE MOTOR THAT JON DIDN'T TOUCH. HE REALLY TOOK CARE OF US AND FIXED IT ALL UP.
