This is one awesome looking ride. Have they already done the final paint polishing?
I am contemplating building a Falcon myself. What engine crossmember are you using. I would like to find a weldin front cross as well as sub frames.
Once again excellent example of a Falcon done right.

Any info would be greately appreciated.

Pictures at best are an indication of what's what but certainly not "true" depictions. The fenders are not buffed and polished but the rest of the car is and that's just too hard a call from the pics. Add in the flash on some but not all shots and that really messes with things. The final buff polish came out better than I had anticipated, at this moment we only have the hood left, just waiting for the booth to clear.

The front Mustang II cross member is from Arizona Nova. Today I'd go with RC Motorsports out of Florence, SC just because they are so close to me and provide great personal service. If you're a member of the tffn website you can find a very detailed buildup on Cobralcon there starting with dip strip right on up to today. It is listed under "Customs" which requires permission to view but that's only to insure those who are not inclined toward customs leave those of us who are alone.

Send me a PM for any specifics you may have and I'll see what I can dig up from the build and/or remember. The remembering is the hard part for me!

Good luck with your plans and build,

Hal R

Smile Cobralcon delivered

Got the car back from paint late yesterday. Too much rain to get any good clean sunny shots but maybe today will be better. Here are a few of the finished but still dusty car:

Awesome Falcon, I had a nice black 1962 Falcon with a 302 and C4 it was a fun car I would have loved to have one with a big block that would have been a blast to drive.

Default Got a few pix yesterday

Just wanted to share a few pix with the proper wheels and with the sun shinning.

On a mad dash now to get Cobralcon ready for the Turkey Rod Run. It will be tight but I think I'll make it.

Default The Mirror is now unprotected

Took these shots yesterday even before replacing the valve covers or cleaning up the mirrors but just had to post them. This is really what makes Cobralcon unique, at least I haven't seen another with this use of mirrored stainless.

Kind of looks like the first 16 cylinder engine in a Falcon LOL.

Later,

Hal R

PS Don't tell Carl because he only charged me for 8 cylinders.......

Car looks great! I'm in the middle of a BB Falcon build myself. I just posted the pics titled 1965 Ford Falcon. I'd be interested in your input. It looks like you have gone with the FE. Is that correct? I'm interested in getting your input on the hood clearance. I noticed you went with a dual plane. Was that to fit it under the stock hood? For the life of me, i can't figure out how to not have too much poking out of the hood if anything. i have considered the efi throttle bodies that improve clearance, or go for it with a weber style efi or carb set up and just own the stacks coming out of the hood, or finally the cheapest route of going carb with a single "Mr. Gasket" velocity stack. Just don't know how far it going to stick out and if it's going to look ridiculous. Your input is welcome.

Smile Nearing Wrap Time

Thanks for all the comments, it is appreciated.

Not too much left on the punch sheet at this point (thank goodness). Just a couple of larger items. Probably the biggest is the A/C install which takes several hours and maybe 10 or so hours of detail work. The interior is all cut out and once the logo gets back from the embroider vendor it will only be a couple of days to finish it off.

The date I'm working toward is one week from tomorrow which gives me time to get a computer alignment and take care of DMV paperwork. My wife and I will be leaving for Daytona on Thanksgiving morning since we are showing the car at the Turkey Rod Run. So as for wrapping things up, a week from tomorrow is IT! I'll wrap up this thread when I get back from Daytona with a photo blog of sorts. I should also have some pre-show pics to post next week.

Everyone have a great weekend,

Hal R

Default Down to the wire

Well it looks like the interior is going to take me right down to the wire as far as making Daytona Turkey Rod Run. I won't be getting the car until Tuesday morning out of the interior shop so it's go go go but I'll make it even if there are a couple of things that still need doing, like a decent shake down cruise!

I might have to park and unload outside the track rather than take A1A down from St. Augustine each day but that all depends........

Here are a couple of shots, one with the engine compartment at least partially cleaned up and also a pre-installed door panel complete with Cobralcon emblem.

Hal R

Figured I'd throw in this one of the exhaust even though there's so much dust and dirt all over it to show off the first pic of the electric dumps being finished. Now if I could only get the vid cam to work I could provide some sound LOL!
