Default Big Ford HP #s

As we all know the world of top fuel dragsters with 6000+ HP engines are bassed off of a chevy engine ,,as far as I know. How big of a BBF engine can one make? and how much power could a guy really get out of a BBF bassed engine if one pushed the limits?

actually, IIRC, most of the Top Fuel Dragsters' engines are Mopar Hemi based...

about the ford motors, I think you can get a block to take a 460 based engine to 800+ cubic inches, and make in excess of 2000hp, or so I've heard. never actually seen one up close though. would be one helluva ride!

I wouldn't think that a dragster motor (aries i think) would have anything to do with a chevy, and i've heard of 900+C.I. Fords. And as far as Hp goes i bought a blower intake from a guy on this forum that was makeing 1800+Hp on a A460 head 498 C.I. and he was switching to C460 heads and shooting for 2300+Hp on alky. I believe they are getting up to 2500Hp out of the SBF's in the Outlaw class. :?: So i would think that a BBF could do a little better.

^^^ yeah, just think of the possibilities if you had an unlimited budget: 950ci, 30 psi turbo, and strong enough parts to hold it all together... wow, my bank account hurts just thinking about it.

Default How much?

The limiting factor becomes keeping the headgaskets in with 10 bolt block when you start boosting it. The 18 bolt block would have the advantage.

Default BBF Power

Tim Lynch switched from a SBF to a 604 BBF with twin 91mm turbos. He has ran 223 mph at 3000 lbs. on a 10.5W tire so he is making well over 2000 Hp. Also, Brad Brand switched from a SBF to a 700+ BBF with twin 98mm turbos.

That's just INSANE

Back a few months ago I saw a video of Tim Lynch's car carrying the front wheels and riding on the wheelie bars all the way down the track  8)

Never tried putting a link on here. Below is the website that has a video of Lynch's 6.66 pass at 215 mph. Same weekend he ran a 6.72 @ 223 mph. He has only had the BBF combo the past few months and has already made the quickest and fastest pass in 10.5 Outlaw.
