Guys,
There has been a lot of discussion lately on the Forum about which head is the best. Some of it has been heated discussion, and some of it has already been discussed and debated before. The newcomers probally should learn to use the search function and they'll find a lot of answers to their questions. One question was, has anybody done back to back dyno tests comparing them. I know that we haven't, and we don't really plan to. However, I have had the opportunity to port and flow test both the Edelbrock heads and the TFS Street heads. I don't ever plan to port any Pro Comp heads, because other engine builders and porters whom I respect, have already said that they are at the bottom of the pecking order, so I'll believe them. The data I'm about to give you, may help you because these flow numbers are ALL from our bench, using the same slider plate fixture, same bore size, same radius entry, and other criteria etc. So hopefully that does away with advertising hype and bench differences. Edelbrock Performers 2.19 X 1.75 valves 1. Unported, out of the box; Intakes; .100=66, .200=135, .300=202, .400=253, .500=296, .600=316, .700=327, .750=333 cfm. Exhausts; (without a test pipe) .100=58, .200=106, .300=144, .400=171, .500=187, .600=200, .700=205, .750=207 cfm 2. Fully ported Edelbrocks (by me) Intakes; .100=67, .200=138, .300=204, .400=260, .500=309, .600=334, .700=347, .750=354 cfm. Exhausts; (without a test pipe) .100=57, .200=114, .300=158, .400=189, .500=216, .600=230, .700=241, .750=243 cfm. TFS Streets 2.200 X 1.750 valves 1. Unported, out of the box; Intakes; .100=67, .200=144, .300=211, .400=275, .500=325, .600=351, .700=351, .750=352 cfm. Exhausts; (without a test pipe) .100=51, .200=100, .300=138, .400=169, .500=194, .600=211, 700=223, .750=227 cfm 2. Fully ported TFS Streets (by me) Intakes; .100=70, .200=153, .300=231, .400=295, .500=335, .600=358, .700=367, .750=370 cfm. Exhausts; (without a test pipe) .100=58, .200=110, .300=154, .400=187, .500=219, .600=240, .700=251, .750=256 cfm. I hope this data helps you make your own decision. I do not want to get into a heated debate about which head is better, this, that or the other. I will say, that if you have a mild street engine, pump gas, hydraulic cam and etc., that it's not going to make much of a difference which heads you run. On the other hand, if you have a hot street/strip engine, bigger cubic inches or a race engine, then is when I think the differences will show up. Hope this helps,

Thanks, good info.
Sorry for a noob question; these Edelbrocks are the 'smaller' ones with the OTB 292 cc intake port volume? |

any info on the scj performers that is what i have on my car-- they were also ported and cnc !!the intake tracks were also reshaped for a straiter shot to the chambers

The regular "Performer" heads are the smaller ones. I don't know about what Charlie does with the flange openings but, when I fully port these D0VE size intake ports I automaticly open them to a VICTOR port match; (not full CJ size). Just so you know, it doesn't change the airflow very much. It seems that most people running fully ported heads go this route.
