Depends on cam design.... if the cam is crutched for some back pressure (restrictive exhaust) open headers might hurt.

Very true Kim my 76 cobra two likes a little back pressure. What did sound wild this year on my two was an open x pipe i took off the flow master 1 chambers to try it . Now i wonder if an x pipe with the ultra flos will be better on my big block stang? I guess next year maybe, first i need to try a converter leaving at 1200to 1300 rpms aint cuttin it 151.0 60' isnt bad but it gives me an idea what its gonna be like with a new one if the tires hold it.
