Default Oil Slinger???

I recently finished a 466 with a FRPP double roller chain driving a comp hydraulic roller for timing. As it was assembled, the oil slinger was definitely clear of the chain on the crank sprocket--.050" or more.

The engine was run on a test stand for about 30 minutes. We had a small coolant leak and the timing cover gasket replaced. There was no evidence of interference between the slinger and the lower sprocket after the test run when we had the timing cover off.

Now I read that the slinger perhaps should not be used with double roller chain. Should I take the motor out and remover the slinger? if it was not in contact with the lower sprocket, will it be a problem in the future?

Thanks in advance,

Harry
