We noticed when we was installing the #1 main bearings that the bearing covered 97% of the oil passage going to the #1 cam bearing.
We decide to go ahead and clearance the main bearing a little from the back side to open up to the oil passage. Did this matter?

The #1 cam bearing will get plenty of oil.....the feed hole intersects the main supply gallery .

So you are saying that the passage going from the main bearings to the cam bearings, some where along the passage there is another passage that intersects them main oil galley?
I didn't really notice another passage intersecting it when I had the main bearing removed and looking into it. All though I wasn't looking for one. I just assumed it recieved it's oil after the main. Thanks!

It hits the main feed from the oil filter....get a coat hanger and a flash light .

I have fully plugged that oil feed on my 545, and on the 460 before that. No need to oil that main bearing twice IMHO.
I almost certainly learned that trick here on this site sometime in the past, so I'm not taking credit. Just passing along some info. Greg
