Default Procomp Aluminum Heads

Has anyone used or can recommend these heads?

Flow numbers look good and the price is pretty sharp. In this game you usually get what you pay for but some times a bargain is found...

There are many threads here on this very subject ad nauseum...

They have their place however they are not TFS streets by any stretch nor are they as good as well worked iron in some cases...

Try the search and take a looksy...

Lets make this perfectly clear !!!

They ARE NOT the same casting as a TFS street period!!!

Remember I am a dealer and I have worked with these heads so this is an informed opinion...

To me they look as though they loosely mock the A429 combustion chamber, and exhaust they tried to copy the E head but ended up with a d port at the flange and a d3 head short/long turn.... thats just basing it on pictures.

If your looking for a bargain, look through the auction block and take a look at this link to the auction block.
http://www.460ford.com/forum/showthread.php?t=132257

P.S. I bought a Procomp distributor and valve covers. The valve cover casting was poor in quality, it was extremely thin in several areas and the mounting flange was uneven. The distributor worked well, its electonic pickup last longer than the Msd pickup I used.

Hey don't sweat it, this subject comes up quite often. Scotty nailed it about the heads having been given a thrashing by himself and many knowlegable others. These heads do have a place as a stock replacement for iron heads. When set up properly they give marginal performance compared to some of the antique iron heads, but we aren't all after utmost performance, and this is where they can have a place. If you are after a performance head, there are much better choices.
