Here are some cheap easy options....

4-Link - Move the top bar up a hole.... It will make it harder to pick the front and then will spin easier...

Go to a smaller tire. A 29x10.5 would be fine for you.... It will gear you down a little more and will be plenty to get some hook and wheel speed. Guys are going 7.20's on those things!

Launch harder... don't know where your converter is setup, but if you come out of the hole hotter it will carry that rpm longer.

Please explain "DEAD HOOKING" not familiar with that term. Spinning, bogging?

Dead Hooking means it is not spinning the tire at all... It is dead hooked the F up! LOL

When you raise your 4-link top bars you will not pick the front... however it takes the agressiveness out of the chassis. Sounds like you need more umph.... you need to hit that thing a lot harder out of the hole! You need to make it spin the tires!

Very well could... that is why I said go down to like a 29" tire... that will help as well as getting rid of some weight and width.

To give you a point... When I ran Hot Street ....

397 all motor inline valve heads, 3300 lbs, 5 speed G-Force, 28x10.5 M/T... We ran 8.70's and that was like 2004. That engine was making 864 hp... lol!

You don't need that big of a tire, and that is a heavy car! For an auto you need smaller tires, and some gear!!!

I have been trying for 55 years to NOT spin the tires when leaving the line-and NOW you tell me I am doing it wrong.

I'm looking to improve the 60ft times, first 4 link chassis car.a little wheel speed i think might help because when the car leaves it pulls the motor way down and i don't have the funds for more UMPH like Cale said.i think 4.56 might have been to much gear so i went with 4.30 from 4.10,and a 33 to a 31 inch tall tire.it goes through the traps were i want at 7000rpm.trying to hit 8.9999999999.i should be able to learn to tune and setup 2.5 tenths

Sounds more like tuning to me. Don't overlook something simple. Does carb. have power valve in rear? if so maybe fuel is pulled away launching, same thing with jet extentions. Just a thought, Randy.

Larry,
It is a little more technical than that.... If you were running a data logger we could look at your .25 and .50 increments... how fast the driveshaft is turning at those times into the run.

It is about maintaining the right amount of wheelspeed and in the summer you have to let a naturally aspirated engine breath, which means if you run a clutch, you have to slip that thing and give it some gear!
