Default 800 hp 460 for pulling truck.

I need some advice from the experts. I had a 460 bored .060 over flat top pistons on stock bottom with D0VE-C heads fully ported and polished 2.25 intake 1.76 exhaust. But the bottom end let go on us this past weekend. I want to build a motor with 800hp with these heads. I just need to know if anyone has a dyno proven combo for a truck pulling engine that would work for me or at least some advice. (I must use cast production heads)

Thanks in advance.

I don't think you will ever see 800 horse from a set of DOVE's. If you are set on 800 horse you will need to step up to a good set of D0OE-R heads.

I think that maybe impossible without Nitrous or boost (you could maybe get there if your last name is Kaase). I'm sure the other experts will chime in. Sounds like a pretty tall order though.

What is the most hp you think we can get from a set of D0VEs? What is the best stroker kit to go with? Cam, etc. ? Must be under 510 ci.

I made in the neighborhood of 600 with a 514 with DOVE heads, a high .600" lift solid roller, and a tunnelram with dual 750's.......Of course I used every trick I could think or inside the crankcase, windage, scrapers, bushed lifters, compression ect.

800 lb/ft of torque ... probably yes, with a really big engine;
getting 800 horsepower using D0VE's with ANY size engine will be a real difficult task.

As Bret said, find a pair of D0OE-R heads...

On a max effort deal with a bit over 500 cubes, you might find high 700s. If money were no object and all ports were somewhat reconfigured you could probably find 800. CJ heads will get you their without too much difficulty.

Circle R racing in Sheridan Illinois has a customers D0VE headed 508 making a tick over 800hp in drag racing application, so it can be done, but I agree it would be easier with D0OE R heads.

With enough camshaft to rev it high enough to get that horsepower figure with almost no torque on the bottom.
Drag Race engines and Puller engines are completely different entities; (unless you can shift gears in the middle of a pull).

Yep without power adders. He is Boss429 on here Im sure he would be happy to discuss it with you. Its a real good piece alot of time was spent on rand d on that motor. Like I said its easier with D0OE R, but not unheard of.

It makes enough torque to carry the wheels 100 feet, and contrary to your statements pullin motors and drag motors arent that different.
