very nice project. I'm going to be notching the sock towers in mine. I was going to buy a kit but the guy doing it can damn near build anything and now that I know where to find that article you posted I think I'm covered.

Keep us posted.

I bought the car with the four link under it. Finally taking my heads in for the new hardware installation this morning. Trying to remember the backcut recommendation, 20 degrees on intake?
I think I will have the 2.25 valves installed.

Hi, just wondering what engine mounts you used as I'm in the process of rebuilding my 429 with the intention of dropping it into my 69 fastback...
Cheers Pete.

This car has the crites setup mounts and headers. I know there are other kits available too.

Default E85 or not to E85

Picked up the heads today with the new hardware, 2.25 valves with a 30* backcut on the intakes. I think I'm going to look into the pros and cons of E85 right now it seems like all I would have to do is get an E85 carb built for my application. I'll do a lot more research before pulling the trigger, but so far it seems like a good idea. Anyone have any experience or knowledge about the subject please share? So far I've read guys having success with it on high compression and nitrous engines. I was just liking the idea of having more street time with the E85.

Jon
Notching the shock towers is very easy. I did it on my 68 wagon before I even read the article. Plus it makes changing plugs sooooo much easier lol.

On another note that mustang is beautiful and I love the engine color. Have you thought about getting one of the boss 429 hood scoops. Think that would look amazing on that stang. Keep up the good work!
As far as I know with the e85 all of my tuner friends running lits of boost swear by e85. Apparently it gives you a cooler charge and produces more power out of your engine and can successfully run more timing and conpression on it. Yes you have to change your carb over. Mostly jets and metering block from what I have read because I am considering it. Just make sure you have it available around you. Here's its scarce.

You know as a matter of fact I'm planning to get the taller boss scoop that I've seen being sold, I believe it's 3" taller. http://www.classglassperformance.com/mustang.html

I've been reading about guys switching to E85 with High horse v8's with success and even up to 16:1 compression. I figured since I will need to buy a carb anyways maybe I could save a buck or two by switching over and getting more street time with it. We have E85 at our pumps regularly so that would be a bonus. I'm just trying to find out why so many folks around here are not switching over.

Thanks for the compliments and reply.

Default Jon Kaase oil pump

oh yeah something I found interesting:

I called Jon Kaase for an oil pump yesterday, and the nice lady that answered informed me that the company that WAS casting the pumps went under and that the new pump will be Billet and hopefully ready around the end of July. Now I'm kicking myself in the butt for not buying one of the originals earlier. She didn't know if the price would change, but I'm sure it will go up if it's a billet oil pump. And it sounds like she gets a call everyday for oil pumps so I bet it will be a longer wait when they are ready because of selling out. Oh well, I will probably just wait it out.

Yeah confuses me too. I intend to switch over if I can find some places that sell it. But yeah the guys for the scoops have a thread on here and yes they are 3" taller. But look amazing!!! I want and probably will get one for my wagon sometime.
