Good luck with the purchase! I wish we could get vintage Mustang shells out here for $500. Especially this time of year when Barrett Jackson is in town. Something like what you're looking at won't sell for less than $1500 around here, in the same condition, I've seen them go for as much as $2500.

Good luck with the project, always like to see father soon projects! I have five year old son and daughter and try to get them involved as much as possible for their age mainly handing me wrenches at this point but my daughter is the one who shows genuine interest at this point.

Kinda jumping ahead of the story here, but he wanted $500, talked him down to $400 before we left, then got it down to $300 once we got up there

I had been watching Ebay and CL for a good while, and I do agree,....most anything complete that rolls will cost you $1,500 and up, thats the only reason why we hoofed it 15 hr there and then 15 hr back!

Mom was still pizzzed when she saw it, "Tommy you got totally ripped off, that a big old pile of Sheet!@!"

"yea,..whatever"

Her two sisters then have to stick in their nosey opinions, "I see cars like that on the road driving all the time for $1,500". Never did know that they were such Mustang experts,..'I'll tell you what, you buy all of those Mustang that you come across for $1,500, I can sell them all day long for upwards of $3,000 to $4,000,..we'll split the profit".

None of those cars have yet to be brough to my attention.

seems the best deal in the 67/68 Mustang is a $5k deal, where I'm at.
You can get them cheaper but they need everything replaced.
I'd rather save my penny's and get one I can drive as I fix up.

Good luck!

Good point, but with this project, its strictly a straight line, stoplight to stoplight, sunny day, weekend only toy. As soon as we brought it home we started breaking it down for blasting, this was / is never meant to be a daily driver.

Plus we are planning to remove and replace much of the car, motor, trans, rearend, fully tubbed rear, 12 pt cage, etc. For us it made no sense to pay high or even normal dollar for what we wanted.

Nice thing about starting from scratch, you get to rip out all the crap the previous owners did to it, and do it all yourself the right way, not worrying about stumbling into the p/o's half-arsed and wtf repairs later on.

The plans call for us leaving after work, packing clothes, picking up a U-haul trailer, getting road trip supplies and getting on the road ASAP.

If we leave, around 7:00 pm ish, we'll get up there around 9:00 - 10:00 in the morning, load it up, take care of the paperwork at the notary and be back on the road. A major catch if that we can't stop to sleep and still be up there before the notary leaves Sat afternoon,...so the plans call for much Mt. Dew and 5 hr energy drinks. Co-pilot gets to sleep, benefits of being a 14 yr old kid.

Buckle up Tanner, we've got a road trip to make, "lets hit it dad!!".

OK, so off from work, run over to U Haul, quick stop at Walmart for roadtrip supplies then we hit the road.

Supplies bought, route mapped out, we're loaded up and ready to go,..I have no idea what 5 hr energy tastes like, but this is one helleva trip,..we'll be able to give first hand feedback on this product very soon. Yes that's Mt Dew mixed in with the 5 Hr energy,.."We've got a long way to go and a short time to get there,....." you know the rest.

My copilot didn't feel the need for quite the documentation of our trip as I did,..."Dad, lets just get going, they know what sandwiches and drinks in an ice chest look like,...you're embarassing me,. people are looking at us!"

"Just one more shot Tanner, turn the Pop Tarts a little more to the right."

"Crap dad lets go!!!"

I enjoyed reading your thread, keep it coming.

This is my first post on this site.

I have been a member for a few months and reading all the car building projects is giving me inspiration to get back to work on my project which has sat in the backyard for 15 years.

Ok, so its 9:00 and we finally hit then road, so far the co-pilot is holding up fine, bedtime is usually around 10:00 ish, but we're on a super cool road trip, talking about whatever.

Coupla hours into the trip, first gas stop and he's still wide awake, totally enjoying the dad / son time.

Second stop and I've still got a co-pilot

"Houston,..we have a problem."

Little bit after we pull out onto the road and I'm driving solo, sunrise is nowhere in sight and the fun of this roadtrip is just beginning.

Driving solo really sucks, especially at night,...pretty much doing whatever I can to stay awake, Mt Dew and I are on a first name basis and have been for the last coupla hours,...look down at my watch and I've been up for 24 hrs now,...5:30 am.

24 hrs and we're still nowhere close to being there, probably got another 8 hrs or so,...TIME TO PULL OUT THE BIG GUNS.

5 hr energy and the smell of a 13 yr old boy's feet,...hopefully that'll keep me wired for a while longer.
