E40D or 700r4?
Think I really need an OD transmission for my 521. Highway cruising even to local car shows (20 miles maybe) is pretty tough with the C6, 3000 stall, and 3.55 rear gears. Cruising at 3000rpms at 55-60mph is not making my trans/oil and engine temp happy.
it was a hot day 95-100*F and cruising on the highway mostly at 55-60mph. Engine temps are getting between 190-210*F, trans temps are getting to 220*F approx and oil temps are around 210-220*F. Trans has a super duty cooler the size of a radiator (Huge) and remote filter, oil has a 30 row -10 aftermarket cooler, rad is a 31"x19" 2 core aluminum pure water and royal purple ice additive, procomp aluminum mechanical high flow water pump and a gutted high flow Tstat. Coolers are stacked infront of the rad with space between them 1/2-3/4" and fans are new OEM for a dodge charger 6.0L hemi and are dual fans with integrated shroud.
My engine temps are livable and oil temps are alittle warm, but my trans temps are no good, not with the cooler I have.
Just wondering the approx cost of the E40D and the 700r4.
I know I need a controller (600$) for the E40D, shortened DS and maybe fab a new trans crossmemeber, but I really want something I can beat on at the track alittle (1-2 times a year) but give me a lockup for the highway. I have built a few 700r4s for 700hp and they worked well. The 700r4s require a special block adapter which I cant seem to find but run about 450-500$. Which is almost the cost of a controller for the E40D.
What mods would it cost for the E40D to survive behind my 550hp 521? Same mods as my C6?
