Cam Timing

I have an 1987 460 in my 79 F350 4x4. I plan on rebuilding the 460 soon doing a stock rebuild except for cam timing. How would moving the timing from 8 deg. retarded to straight up effect the power curve ? Looking for low end torque. Also truck has to pass Calif. smog. Thanks

Straight up cam timing will not cause a fail for Cali smog

Use the 612 EFI pistons at 0 deck for higher 8's static c/r
207 / 219 voodoo cam on a 112
Properly curved duraspark distributor

Factory carb

The above has already and will pass cali smog.
