Race Results from Saturday - Memorial Classic

We went racing and had a BLAST even though it was TOO HOT!! I can't take the heat like I used to. I went 4 rounds until my brakes gave out on me and pushed me through the lights thus red-lighting GRRRRRRRRr.......... I'm going to get a new master cylinder and bleed the brakes again. The car was DEADLY consistent after I got it dialed in. All night it would have ran between 6.38 and 6.40 unless I hit the brakes or let off the gas after I passed my victims. Car worked flawless all night until my brakes give out. STUPID BRAKES! Maybe I should have been using the trans brake instead LOL! Chuck did a little better after we finally got his car to run right. It's still not consistent but it's running great now. He lost in the quarter finals with a -.002 reaction time and ran a 6.83 on a 6.87 dial in.

Anyway we had a BLAST! You guys need to go with us next time ;-)

First Elimination Run Dialed in 6.40 and cut a .046 light. My opponent dialed a 6.61 and cut a .051 light: advantage me out of the gate! I hit the brakes and ran a 6.400 NOW that's cutting it CLOSE!

Second Round Eliminations I dialed in at 6.38 and cut a .016 light to my opponents dial of 7.07 and a -.003 Red Light So I stayed in it and ran a 6.401 at 107.270 mph at 69 degrees F and 30.12 barometric pressure.

Next Victim, Third Round of Eliminations I dialed in at 6.39 and cut a .001 light to my opponents 6.70 dial in and .067 light. He never had a chance! I let off the gas at at the end after I had passed him and ran a 6.424 at only 99.826 mph to his 6.727.

Next round is when my brakes allowed me to push through the lights resulting in a red light! I was in the zone and should have made it to the finals but that's racing!

Looking forward to the next race but due to my schedule it will most likely be mid June before I can go again.

Got to hang out with Gene and Charlie from the KentuckyMustangs.com forum for a little while and watch them race. They did really well and I believe Gene ran a personal best on his last run.

Later

All my victims were Chebby's

I'm used to foot braking and the class I used to run is foot brake only so I just don't have it hooked up at the momment. I think I'll start using it in the near future.

I did meet a few Big Block Ford guys and recruited them to www.460ford.com

One guys is running a 466 with Edelbrock heads in a 80 Fairmont that he recently purchased out of Maryland. The car weighs 3050# with him and runs 6.50's while shifting at 5600rpms and using a 650DP carb with 32" tires. It does run consistent but I just don't see how it runs that fast with that little rpm and the small carb....... :?:
