want to raise shift point on C6 - 460 1987 model

is there a easy way to change the shift point from 4500 rpm that it now shifts at when floored and in drive, to the 5000 - 5500 range. I have the kickdown rod ajusted full now? I have a comp 270H cam, a 100 hp shot of NOS with a 750 carb. wt 4200 lbs

Trial and error,,,

Remove the driveshaft and trans extension housing,,remove the 4 3/8 bolts that hold the governor to the output shaft, there are two weights in the governor, one has a snap ring that holds a tin circle on the outside of the housing, remove the clip, tin piece, spring, and valve, the valve has a step on the end closest to the output shaft, grind the step off to lighten the valve so that it will take more rpm the overcome the spring pressure that is trying to hold it in towards the shaft.CAUTION!! This will raise all shift rpm's at all throttle positions. Most big block cars with C6 transmissions seem to shift too early at light throttle anyway so this will keep the shifts from stacking and being in 3rd at 25 mph.You may also want to measure the spring tension of the spring in the governor in case you may need to install a slightly stiffer spring to fine tune the shift points. Hope this helps,,,,,Gregg

I would try a black stripe modulator before tearing into the trans.I had a 2 - 3 flare problem on mine and picked up the black stripe mod from napa. This cleaned up the flare but I found you can get a pretty high shift point out of them.
