'63 fairlane big front disc brakes... for cheap?

I've got an old fairlane that would be cool to restore on a budget. It wouldn't be kept factory original by any means, just hot rodded and such. What can be done with the front suspension/brakes? It's a factory V8 car with auto trans. Do the 64 1/2-66 mustang front suspension parts bolt right on or is it completely different?

I am not sure if they are the same or not but if they are then there is some good options for disc brake swaps. There is a couple places that make brackets so that you can use 2004+ cobra rotors and calipers. Mustang Steves and Vintage Venom. I have the vintage venom kit for my Falcon but I haven't installed it yet. Both these kits allow you to use new mustang wheels which are so cheap it is crazy.

You need to use 17" wheels thought. If that doesn't work there is a guy that sells wilwood stuff on ebay. They have a huge selection of application and he might have something for you. I think the 11.75" are around $651.

The old Granada front disks seem to be a popular swap, but I don't remember which early Fords they will work on. When doing any swap that involves swapping out the spindles as part of the deal, be sure to check that doing the swap won't cause a bump-steer problem.

You may want to do some checking, but I think the 65/66 brakes will bolt right up to your spindle. If you do the Granada swap there will be some bump steer issues - whether it's bad enough to worry about - I have no experience.

Scott,

Go to Woody's fairlane site and scroll down to the tech pages. There are a couple different options.
