Question for anyone with a '69 Mach 1 ***Added Pic***

I'm in the process of restoring a very nice 1-owner '69 Mach 1. I stripped the car and removed the original seam sealer from the gutters. Whether or not the area going around the quarter window below the lead seam is smoothed over is what I'm wondering about. This car was stripped in the early 80's the last time it was painted so I don't know if anything was removed. I looked at a local collector's cars yesterday. He has a Mach that's been restored w/seam not filled and a supposed untouched original Boss 302 that was filled. Because the car isn't mine I would like to make it as original as possible. I hope someone can help. Thanks in advance. Lee

I don't know the answer to your question. But it can be found over at vintage-mustang.com There is a concours forum with some MCA judges that frequent that I'd ask in.

Wish I had a Mach

I with the Government and I'm here to help

It's rough from the factory. I bought mine in '79 and it still has original paint... I sprayed some primer on the roof way back when...and brushed some rust neutralizer on it. It's an S-code 69 Mach1 . (390, 4-spd) .

Mach 1 roof

Thanks, Bob! I knew you had a lot of projects but didn't know that an original paint S-Code Mach was one of them! Nice find. I have really got a new appreciation for these cars since I've been working on it. I don't think that '69 Boss I looked at was as original as the owner suspects. Thanks again. Lee

Mine is rough too. Its been painted a few times though so a pic probably wouldn't show you much. AND my car is a long way from original, the only thing left original is the roof and tail section. ( body minus the front cap )

I still have a ton of window chrome from my two cars , 69 mach and 70. I won't be putting it back on.
