9.50's in the quarter...how would you do it??
Here's my goal....I want to run mid 9's at 140+ in my 4000 lb. `68 Torino.
It has gone 10.08 at 132 before, but that was with a boat load of NOS!!
I want to be able to use a much smaller NOS shot...like 150 or so, or none at all and still have it as backup.
The current combo is a 472/C6 with 4.33 gearing and 28x12.50 ET Streets.
Stock suspension but with CE adjustable front drag shocks, heavier pack leaf springs with Cal-Tracs. 8 point cage and subframe connectors.
Normally, it runs in the 10.75 zone because I jetted the nitrous down.
But later this year, I want to build another motor/trans combo to push it faster and hopefully into the mid 9's.
Im thinking no less cubic inches than a 557, but I'd like a 600+ if possible (hey its only money, right??)
So here's my initial thoughts.
1.) Single carb.
2.) Big transmission...C6/TH400??
3.) Retain the stock style suspension and "small" tires.
As the world turns...I get more dizzy!
