Hey Chilly, get a load of the member count

If you look at the first 3 pages, they are almost totally spam bots.

Why not make it so a confirmation email is needed to sign up?

Right now I average 150 emails per day for activation confirmation, throw in all the bots asking for signup, I'd be at 300/day.

 Ouch !!

Life's journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid-in-sideways, totally worn out, shouting.."holy crap.... what a ride!"

Why not put in so you need to type in a 5 letter character than as a sign up deterrent for bots?

Realoldspower.com...

The moderator must *personally* approve all emails..
That is, even though a bot can go through the whole process

a human must also email the moderator and say "hey activate me".

He said that cut down on all spam bots altogether.

I'm going to have to look into some alternative, because the activations are turning into a major chore. The vast majority, easily 90% of them, are bots. Problem is, I can really only ID the bots by the goofy names they come up with, and occasionally a person signs up with a goofy name and I delete their email. If it's questionable, I can go look a their profile to check the email address, but when trying to catch up with 450 activation requests...these things definitely fall through the cracks.
