Random photos, Big man engine stand-

Here are some pics of an engine stand that I built to get the engine up into my wheelhouse a little more(I go about 6'7"). I was bored on a saturday a couple weeks ago, so I cut the head off of one of our old stands and used some scraps we had to build a stand that mounts the engine about a foot higher that most stands. I wish I would have built it sooner. It is so nice to be able to send pistons home without hunching over. The truck is my latest project. I'm building a 472 for it right now. The pullers out there might appreciate that it went 217ft with a wheezing 400 two barrel in an 8,000lb diesel class! I want to bring it in this winter and make it nice, but it's just so much fun to drive that I don't want to go overboard and have another vehicle that I'm afraid to leave in a parking lot. Thanks for looking.

That's a funny thread, and I do believe you have trumped me when it comes to strength. You could probably hang a 60 series detroit off that thing! Just goes to show that great minds think alike! I built mine out of 3 inch square tube that is around 1/4 inch thick. I think the weak link is the head setup. I hung off the end of that 460 block and tried to flex it (I weigh somewhere north of 250), and the little movement I got came from there.

I feel MUCH safer with a BIG HEAVY duty engine stand! Nice Craftsmanship on your part
