power steering

does anyone have experience with the old crank driven power steering pumps on 460s,I have a friend who wants to run one on a bracket car.He has prostetic arms and can't chance the power steering belt coming off. Any information would be appreciated.

how dependable are they? do they require a special harmonic balancer?I bought one off of ebay and it doesn't look as though the standard balancer will clear.Also I wander how many rpms they will take.
