Dallas Area Engine Builder

I just purchased a '72 Lincoln Mark IV, and am looking for recommendations on good engine builders in the North Dallas area.

Originally I was just going to swap in the engine from my '69 Mark III, which is really strong right from the factory. However I cannot make myself effectively kill the Mark III.

So any recommendations would be appreciated. I am looking for a torky motor, that will sound great and lay a pair on 91 octane. From what I have read it will probably be a stroker with some swapped out heads.

Thanks.

I disagree wholeheartedly with this statement, I have had three engines done by that place and NONE have been worth a damn.

In fact, the foirst one blew up, the second one was mismachined, and the third one pretty much wasted a brand new block with poor machining.

I think Wayne was good, but now he no longer runs the machines. Now his son is running things and really could use a lesson in humility, not to mention a lesson on how to use a micrometer.

I don't know of any shops in Dallas, but if you don't mind a drive to Austin, try Port Pros. Can be a little slow at times, but the boss doesn't skimp on quality and he backs up his engines. 512 257 0222

Owners' name is Harold Hallam, I had the privelege of working for him for over 2 years and he knows his stuff. Plus his shop only has the best equipment, all Sunnen, except for the boring bar which is a Rottler.

Charles Eller in Arlington. 817 277 6409 Mainly does Ford stuff. He does all of my friends SOHC Cammer motors including his fathers and another friend of theirs. Never a problem with any of them and they have trusted him over and over with 25k to 50K motors! Did a 331 SBF for another friend of mine. He is VERY precise and detail oriented. Very clean. Matter of fact, clean the motor before you take it to him.

I have heard of other people shying away from Calvert as well. Whatever you do, take it to some who does Ford motors. Not someone who does all the brands, or mainly chev or mopar. Or at least someone with ALOT of BBF experience.

Thanks for all the great leads, I will check them out.

Money is always a factor, and I'd like to keep this build around the $5k mark. The two engines I rebuilt myself came in way less than that, though one did self destruct, and that was years ago.

Motor builder in Dallas

Check out Dennis Wells, I raced with him years ago, and he had some amazingly fast stuff. He is in Duncanville. His family had a Mobil stationa and wrecker service on Ross Ave.
