A day at the Track-second day report!

Any day at the track is better than a day at the office. I spent the day down here at Pomona & did 3 practice runs in preparation for tomorrow.

I made 3 runs, [email protected], [email protected], and [email protected]

Yeah, yeah, I lifted on one pass. The car was swaying a bit much for my taste & it was better to lift than to get my *** chewed for not lifting.

I was driving the firechicken, I gave up about .8 on average to the dragsters. Thing is, 4 of us drove the rooster & all of us ran in the 9.5X range after noon. 2 runs before noon were 9.4X, but it was way cooler out. The dragsters ran from 9.4 to 9.8. The bad thing... Best light any of us cut was a .115, that was me... The dragster drivers were all over the place again. Best of .035, but he bumped in WAY deep. If you shut off the top bulb, you are done. A couple of .09 & .07, but LOTS in the .1XX range.

Gary Beck was also there with one of the drivers. I think it was his son, I'll find out tomorrow. They all had Paso Posse Nostalgia TF shirts on.

Afterwards, we went to dinner. My wife loves taking pictures in restaurants, so I posed for this one:

Gotta love that Dago Red...

I went to bed early Monday night. Set the alarm for 6AM & got up early to get to the track. Here is what it looked like:

Yeah, rain. we took a 2 hour break & came back at 10. Still rain. Thing is, if we had some spots of sun, or some wind, we could have dried the track. They don't allow the school to use the JET dryer... Something about setting a Honda 50 on fire in Florida...

So, we went back to the hotel, packed our stuff & got the hell out of there... You would too if you saw this:

I got a few strange looks standing there in the road waiting for my wife to take the picture... Just as we jumped back in the car & headed down the road, a local cop car was coming our direction... I wonder what he would have thought of me parking in the middle of the road, giving directions to an Islamic Prayer meeting wearing a Bomb Factory shirt...

The kids figured they would talk us into stopping by John Force racing... They wanted to talk to John & the girls. So... since it was on the way to Disneyland (sort off) & we had to kill 3 hours until we could check into the new hotel... We drove by:

But, they were closed on Tuesdays... So we went looking for our hotel. Since I couldn't find it by memory alone... We had to pull off in this parking lot to get the directions I had in the trunk. We stopped at this interesting store called Custom John's...

As we stood there with my son John... I commented to my wife that it was probably some kind of porn shop, given the pussy-pink paint. Then as we drove off, I figured it out... Here is the front shot:

I had to zoom on the door sign to figure out what they sold, not that the Bob Marley Rasta flag wasn't a give-a-way...
