Hemi Build Progress

Well , I just got back from C&C Motorsports & brought home a few goodies.
[img][/img]

Stef makes an awesome pan but as I figured it will take some massaging to get it to fit. The pan fouls the rear main cap so some minor grinding will be required. Also noticed that the starter cut out isn't deep enough for my CSR Platinum Pro starter. Glad I have my old Tilton for back up. It is shorter than the CSR so it should fit. I wonder why they aren't making pans for the CSR starters to fit. I had the same issue with my Billet Fabrications pan that is on my 557.

[img][/img]

Dave Hughes at HRE did an excellent job fabricating the intake. It lines up great. I was pleasantly surprised. I figured it would be like every other race part. It would have to be hand fitted.
[img][/img]

Here is Rick Kelso modeling the latest in dry sump tank fashion. It is a Peterson tank. It's nice that it is flanged & you can unbolt it to clean it.
[img][/img]

Now I have to get the heads & intake back to Sykes Brothers Cylinder Heads so Ron & David can finish them up. Well I definitely have made a little progress this weekend. I should have this motor together by Juvember 32..

Small as compared to what??? A sewer pipe??? Frank, I aint running the Roberts design heads. Now they would need a sewer pipe to feed them. We did get to look at a set of the 4.9" BS NHRA hemi heads. All I can say is that they are some awesome chunks of aluminum.

Nick, we had a great time yesterday. It was good getting to hang out with you again & we enjoyed meeting Gary. Listening to Gary & Carroll Carter talk makes me realize just how little I know about this stuff. Nick I do have a problem with you. Why didn't you post the picture with you in it???? Come on and step up to the plate & post it. Everybody wants to see your smiling face. If you don't post it, we will find you...

I had a great time hanging out yesterday. Nick, it was great to see you again and it was a pleasure to finally meet the infamous Gary Blair. I always enjoy going to Mr Carter's shop and looking around and listening. If he ever gets the part # from Ford to run his PS head in NHRA, look out GM and Dodge boys

Lookin' good Chris. You are making me green with envy. If we ever do another motor, it'll be one of those fat headed buggers.

Wow! I had to wrap my mind around that first pic of the intake ports. I thought I was looking at a 4 valve port at first. Those are HUGE!

And nice work.

Thanks Brock, If I can get this hemi set up to be as clean of set up as your car I will be happy. And yes those fat heads sure are pretty

I bet everybody didn't know that Rick Kelso aka FordTek1 does some hand modeling on the side. Here he is in action last night. Such the professional..

Now here is one of my spare CJ pistons. It is a JE. It is a 4.44 bore pistin & the Arias hemi piston is 4.6. I plan on weighing both of them next weekend just to see what the difference in weight is between the two.

Great Time

Hey Chris, it was really nice to finally meet you, Rick and Nick. Hopefully we can see each other again at the track. Ron has more Hemi whittling to do, don't he.

Nick, I'm really liking that Fairlane after you detailing the engine to me. I forgot to mention that I'm a card carrying member of the Fairlane Club of America. You should bring it to the Fairlane show at York Pa. this summer.

Gary, Rick & I both had a blast yesterday. It was great getting to meet you face to face. Wish we would have had more time but man yesterday flew by. I think we got back to my house around 9:00 PM & by the time we were done playing with all the new goodies, it was about 11:00PM.By the way, did you enjoy the video( thinning the herd) I sent you? I thought that was hillarious...
I talked to Ron & David & will be taking the heads/intake to them next Saturday. I don't think Ron will mind whittling on these after finishing those cast iron SBC SS heads. Right now I think they are up to their eyeballs trying to get their new CNC milling machine up & running. I think both of them would have liked to made the trip to C&C & hung out.
