What if your race car is a 3800 pound pickup? Even 800 horses won't make it that fast

average Hp = 600-800 HP

depends what you call fast im sure if you had 800 ponies in that it would be more than a handful.

depends on the weight of the vehicle, and where the power comes on no?.

friend has a Nissan Sentra with 320WHP I felt it was on the ragged edge of street safe, lol.

My Cougar with ~375WHP (~500HP) feels daily driveable.

Most people would be surprised to know how "little" horsepower there is in a vehicle that they consider fast and fun. A mostly-stock 80s-90s era fox mustang was/is considered fast and fun for most people, and they were putting 200 horsepower to the wheels if they were lucky. My 4300 pound Elite is fun in relatively stock trim, and it's faster than a lot of other stock vehicles you see today. And that's a 1975 460 that's rated around 220 horsepower with 3:1 rearend gears. It'll smoke the tires all day long and scoot up to 120 mph without trouble.

Torque is responsible for most of the fun-factor.

Once you get into the 300-400 [email protected] range, you have a pretty serious street machine in my opinion. 500+ and it takes a very responsible person not to end up upside down or wrapped around a tree when you're out "having fun."

Assuming a roughly 3500 lbs street car, for me it would be:

average Hp=300+

high HP=600+

extreme Hp=1000+
