Some of you may remember I have a Pinto with a turbo'd 2.3 in it thats kinda built a little bit. I took it out last night for quick spin around the block.
I put the methanol injection kit on it, but had never tried it before, so I let it warm up then I went down the street. I made a U turn and decided to 'get on it'
Hehe...I rolled into it gently in 1st gear, up to about 40-45 MPH, then I clicked 2nd at the same time I stabbed the throttle....MAN O MAN!!
That boost came on, and that methanol came on and at a 40-45 MPH roll, it broke loose, frying the tires and fishtailing sidways. It felt like 600 horsepower!!
Heres some basic specs on the car so you can get an idea of it>>
1972 Pinto Runabout...2300LBS.
2.3 4cyl. engine.
Esslinger aluminum head...ported
Esslinger #2277 turbo cam
Ported upper/lower intake with aftermarket injectors and V8 5.0 throttle body.
Methanol injection kit.
NOS nitrous injection kit(not in use right now)
Wieseco forged pistons
Crower Sportsman rods
ARP main/head studs
Stinger large tube header
3" inch exhaust
C4 trans with manual valvebody
8" inch rear with 4.11 Traction Lock.
This combo already dyno'd at 421 HP at the wheels, and that was before the addition of methanol :!:
It still needs some fine tuning to work out several drivability issues (its a street car, not a race car), and it needs to bring the air/fuel ratio closer to optimum, but all in all, it was a pretty wild ride!!
