how much vacuum is to much

479 inch drag race motor, 12 to 14 right? it is hook up to the valve cover, and how are you checking vacuum? thanks roger

Roger,

If you are filling your overflow tank with oil, it's too much. As for a sportsman engine, I'd rather see 8 to 10" of vacuum, than the 12-14 you mentioned. Gots to keep the wrist pins oiled.

You can put your fitting for gauge in the manifold floor, if it's a single plane like a Victor, or a neater ideal is from Chuck Stevens,,,, put in in your mechancial fuel pump block off plate. Chuck makes and sells a nice block off plate that is already drilled and tapped for an AN fitting.

How do I get Chuck Steven e-mail address, need fuel pump block off to hook up for vacuum pump thanks roger
