Guys, thanks for the compliments, I really appreciate them. I can not take all the credit for the car though. I have a good friend who drives the car for me & does the majority of the work on it. I help but he is really the brains of the outfit. His name is Leon Mathis & he is a machinist by trade. It is very handy to have a machinist on call when you are building a car. I am sure as most of you know you buy expensive parts & a lot of the time they do not fit!!! Leon is excellent with making things fit or making trick parts from scratch. Then when we are at the track I have to give credit to all the people who help us. They know who they are & I appreciate all of them very much!!!! I also have sponsors & they play a big part in making us successful with their help!!
Leon & I did the majority of the work on the car except for the paint & upolstery work & a little bit of the mini-tubing work. We also build our own engines. We are not able to do the bore & honing but we do assemble the engines. When we first build the big block there was quite a bit of clearancing to the block & other things to get the engine together & Leon did all of it. When we changed the engine to a 632 the block had to be clearanced again & again Leon did it.
We have raced the car for (6) years in a class called True Street around the local Louisville area. At one time we were racing 2 different sanctioning bodies. At Ohio Valley Dragway we have won (5) True Street championships & runnered up once. We also won (2) True Street championships & runnered up once in the other local sanctioning body which is no longer around.
I have had both small block Ford engines & big block Ford engines in the car & we have been successful with both. We now have a 632 Thor headed engine in the car & have had very good success with it. We have run the Thor headed engine as a 598 & 632 over the pass 4 years. With the Thor headed engine we have won I believe (17) races & runnered up numerous times.
As the old saying goes there is always a bigger one around the corner, & you can never let you guard down in Outlaw type racing. I never take anything for granted. I am always looking to learn & improve the car. This being said I am currently having the car updated to 25.2 specs. Leon & I are not going to do the 25.2 upgrade because we are both busy & because of time constraints. It is hard to get a lot done when you can only work a few hours on the week nights & on the weekends. You know I now have to try to keep up with Mayabb's & their monster hemi engine on steriods plus all the other people in our class!!!!!
The Mayabb's are as fine as people as you could ever meet & I am proud to say I have got to know them over the past few years & become good friends with them.
Sorry it too me so long to get on here & acknowledge your compliments but I do not readily have access to a computer all the time. When we ran the 5.08 at 142 just as Joe said we did it on stock type suspension at a weight of 3420 lbs. If you guys have questions I will do my best to answer them. Again thanks & everyone have a nice day!!!!
