Starter problem updates

I got the PMGR FORD starter with 11 teeth. It worked good...for a second. First couple of cranks it sounded good and then tore 3 teeth off of the flexpalte. Got PO'ed and winterized it until next spring.

We found the solenoid loose and think the pinion gear was bouncing in and out of the flexplate. The starter is O.K.

Thanks for all the help guys

Kerry,

I was using a gear reduction starter until it gave out on me. I'm now using the Ford truck starter and it works much getter IMO.

starter

Thats the one I'm talking about Damon. I got it from a company in TN. for $61.00. It came ona 95 Ford F250. I think I'll be O.K. if my dad gum engine would stop kicking back.

got it

I installed a retard box and still have issues. I have tried no ignition before during and after turnover. This last time my batteries were lower than I thought. I'm hoping that's why it had trouble firing fast enough. We'll see what happens in the spring.
