Cage/chassis guys. Need help.

What's the tubing size requirement for the bars that run forward from the a-pillar bars, through the firewall to the strut towers or frame? I can't find any info on them in the 2008 NHRA Rulebook.

Also, the rulebook states I can substitute a single 1 5/8" door bar for an X-brace that consists of (2) 1 1/2" tubes. Is that right, or is only the lower bar allowed to be 1 1/2?

Thanks in advance?

John

No requirement on the forward strut bars, the door bar can be a single 1 5/8", you dont need an x.

x2 on what Jon said...remember the cage requirements are for driver safety
not overall car structure.

i dont think there are any limits on tube size for anything that isnt part of the "main structure".. as long as the 8 or 10 pt part meets the clas rule, anything else will do for whatever.. i would use 1.3/4 chromoly for anything up front..

richter,

I'm finally putting that cage I got from you to good use. The a-pillar bars fit real nice too.
