I need some experienced opinions I want to build a BBF

Ok i've been a member here for quite awhile. don't post in the chat sections, mostly the classifieds. anyways, i've been building and racing smallblocks forever, and i have quite a few nasty little motors. anyway, i've always been intrigued with the BBF. i have many ideas but just don't know if it's justifiable to build one that won't be any faster then my smallblocks?
I only build N/A combinations, high winders on pump gas with light chassis.
BBF parts are quite expensive. here would be my goal,
all off the shelf components except the cam and carb of course.
A460 block
TFS A460 heads and intake
557 or 572 incher
pro systems carb
CI cam
compression around 10.5-11:1

now is 850-900 horsepower on pumpgas N/A feasible.
i would like to run mid to high 8's.

now please take into account this car is stupid light. it currently wieghs 2440# ready to go down the track and it will be a stick car.
so does all that sound doable or am i leaving alot on the table, thats probably to easy huh?

Please don't piss me off, i'm running out of places to hide the bodies.

can we agree that we disagree?

On today's menu:
viper ala' carte
deep fried rice burner
suateed corvette and a side order of
smoked camaro!

Looks go to go, I'd opt for a cam from Lem though.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Let me first start by saying a big thanks to everyone that helped! Lem and Phillip definately found some hidden power in the tune. I can honestly say that the ability to just know what will make an engine happy is very impressive. To say that I am happy with the results is a big understatement, I did not expect near what was produced.

The build:
557 cubic inch
4.440" bore Venolia flat tops 11:1 comp ratio
6.700" Scat rods
4.500" Scat forged crank
TFS 2.300" small valve A460 Heads bone stock
Old style TFS/FMS unported intake
Mild custom Comp roller by Lem Evans at B.F.Evans Race Parts

A racer could literaly order pretty much any part of this build off the shelf and put it together... Nothing exotic here. A true testimate to what can be done with the great parts we have available....

The Results:

With a standard Holley 1150 provided by Lem Evans on a mixture of 80% 93 octane pump gas and 20% 110...

826.4 hp @ 6300 rpm
755.3 ft. lbs @ 4800 rpm

With a Quick Fuel 1250 provided by Phillip Oakley on a mixture of 80% 93 octane pump gas and 20% 110...

830.5 hp @ 6300 rpm
760.8 ft. lbs. @ 4800 rpm

With the same Quick Fuel provided by Phillip Oakley on 110 Munster Fuel...

838 hp @ 6300 rpm
775.7 ft. lbs. @ 4800 rpm

We are going to do a little more testing tomorrow, we think there is a little more left to find... Again, thanks to everyone that helped... I had a great time and learned a lot! Thanks!!!

I don't think you will have any problems running that. I would suggest giving Lem and Charlie Evans a call they can fix you up. I can tell you this too , my car ran a 8.37 @ 160.9 mph with Charlie's 533 with the SCJ heads lifting at 1000' mark . .

I also have a 466 with TFS street heads that has some Evan's back ground that has ran 5.51 @124 mph in the 1/8 mile. The car weighs 2356 lbs .

well then i should be able to get aggressive with it and make over 900 on pump gas.
and i'm not scared to build a light wight rotating assembly and spin the thing either.
if i'm correct the A460 motorsport block has 3" mains right? probably wouldn't wanna spin them over 8000 rpm. i would guess.

LEM wanna PM me with a great price on a a460 block?or a complete 557-572 shortblock/

Please don't piss me off, i'm running out of places to hide the bodies.

can we agree that we disagree?

3" mains- yes
900+ with pump gas.....I can't address that....too many variables .
Tq makes these engines work...I'd be surprised if it'd be turned more than 7,000 rpm....notice Seth's unit made good power @6,300 with a small cam .
