6.0L buy back QUESTION?

Gent's

Got this e-mail from a friend, don't have an answer. How can a buy back be re-sold? Are just the issue's addressed or is the total engine replace and the vehicle is re-sold?

If its just the tops blowing off the injectors, they should only be replaced (not bought back), could it be an injector bore issue?

Any-one have any answers?

Hey Adam, maybe you would know the answer to this question. A friend of mine is looking at a buy-back vehicle that is again out for re-sale.
It's a 6.0L engine and was bought back beacuse of the injector issue.
Question; Are the engines changed before they are re-sold or are just the updated parts installed, engine checked and then released again for sale to the public?

Thanks Adam and have a great holiday!!!

cant help you there, but to add to my aggrevation 2 more head gasket jobs showed (not counting the 2 in the air right now), one more set of coolers, and one truck that eats a FICM every 2 months..............Bahhhhhh

I have had several trucks that seem to blow the injectors apart like that, hell after they buy um back they should make the fukers that designed that pos drive um for demos ........

I do understand the top pop-ing off, but can that be a "BUY-BACK" issue?

It's not a long block issue, I need to get more info on this vehicle that is being re-sold and is a buy-back...

LEM talk to me, you have a dealership!!! What's this all about?

Sorry for blowing off guys, I should be thankfull lol.

I'm not sure but i think in OK is has to be in the shop for x amount of working days or a repeat repair like 5 times for the same thing to be considered a buyback. Its a messy deal for sure.

The injector screws pop off allowing the halves to seperate, it seems to not be a common problem, but the trucks that have it fail it seems all the injectors do it and not all at once. I would think it more of a vendor issue with the injector or somthing. After the injector is replaced it never seems to fail like that again.

Ok my Oasis is done.

My brother had his 03 6.0 bought back. He told me that the truck went back to Ford & was not to be resold. But who knows what Ford will do with them afterwards. I would be cautious on buying one of the buy backs now.

A buy back is a truck or car that has a prob and gets sent back 4 times. They buy it back and fix it. New motor or what ever it needs. The dealer has to have you sign that you know it is a buy back and tell you what is wrong with the truck. They also put on a warnty on the truck. They tend to be better warntys than it came with stock.

They can be some of the best buys out there. They keep the price down for you, and put the warnty on it as well.

I used to sell cars for ford.

A buyback cannot be resold,They are sent to some type of sub contractor of sorts and are strip down. Here in Maryland the company that does it is in the heart of Baltimore.

I think it just depends on each states laws. I know in Mississippi if the vehical has to go back for the same type repairs for 3 times it qualifies for the lemon law.

So, if the truck had injector issues and all they did was replace the faulty injector and took weeks to do it. (Due to a bad or slow service department) Then another injector and another I could see how it would be bought back.

I remember a lot of folks complaining once that Ford wouldn't replace all the injectors when they started having problems. Unlike Gm, they supposedly would only replace the injectors in sets. (just from what I read)

no, they can be re-sold......most end up as auction cars and then find their way back to the dealers. I once worked on a Mercury Villager that was bought back 3 times by FMC.. ended up having a missing fuse in the fuse panel
