A4LD help

93 mustang 4cyl. I think the trans is a A4LD. is this trans hard to rebuild.

no, they are actually pretty easy.....If you're familiar w/ a C4 you'll see a lot of familiar parts in there. Keep it clean, pay attention and you should be fine.

Build a stand so you can stand it up on end. There's parts that need to be "wiggled" into place, and gravity is your friend. Make sure you have a tube of vasoline too. I bought a book to get me through it, and it helped a lot. I also bought a $100 front pump aligning tool which was a waste of money IMHO. I got it better by eye. There's a sprag right behind the overdrive drum that I would replace. I didn't on mine, and ended up rolling it 6 months later and had to replace it anyways.
A transmission shop was going to charge me $3000 to do that trans (10 years ago) because it was "electronic". All it had was 2 wires going into the valve body for the TC lockup clutch. I figgered I could plug 2 wires in for a couple of thousand bucks...
