Texas

Here is what Jeff Foxworthy has to say about folks from Texas ...

If someone in a Lowe's store offers you assistance and they don't work
there, you may live in Texas ;

If you've worn shorts and a parka at the same time, you may live in Texas ;

If you've had a lengthy telephone conversation with someone who dialed a
wrong number, you may live in Texas ;

If 'Vacation' means going anywhere south of Dallas for the weekend, you may
live in Texas ;

If you measure distance in hours, you may live in Texas ;

If you know several people who have hit a deer more than once, you may live
in Texas ;

If you install security lights on your house and garage, but leave both
unlocked, you may live in Texas ;

If you carry jumper cables in your car and your wife knows how to use them,
you may live in Texas ;

If the speed limit on the highway is 55 mph -- you're going 80 and
everybody's passing you, you may live in Texas ;

If you find 60 degrees 'a little chilly,' you may live in Texas ;

If you actually understand these jokes, and share them with all your Texas
friends, you definitely live in Texas .

Texans voted in favor of annexation to the United States in the first election following independence in 1836. However, throughout the Republic period (1836-1845 aka the good old days) no treaty of annexation negotiated between the Republic and the United States was ratified by both nations.

When all attempts to arrive at a formal annexation treaty failed, the United States Congress passed--after much debate and only a simple majority--a Joint Resolution fo Annexing Texas to the US. Under these terms, Texas would keep both its public lands and its public debt, it would have the power to divide into four additional states "of convenient size" in the future if it so desired, and it would deliver all military, postal, and customs facilities and authority to the United States government. (Neither this joint resolution or the ordinance passed by the Republic of Texas' Annexation Convention gave Texas the right to secede.)

In July 1845, a popularly-elected Constitutional Convention met in Austin to consider both this annexation proposal as well as a proposed peace treaty with Mexico which would end the state of war between the two nations, but only if Texas remained an independent country.
The Convention voted to accept the United States' proposal, and the Annexation Ordinance was submitted to a popular vote in October 1845. The proposed Annexation Ordinance and State Constitution were approved by the Texas voters and submitted to the United States Congress.
The United States House and Senate, in turn, accepted the Texas state constitution in a Joint Resolution to Admit Texas as a State which was signed by the president on December 29, 1845.

Quoted from the actual Ordinance of Annexation:

"New States of convenient size not exceeding four in number, in addition to said State of Texas and having sufficient population, may, hereafter by the consent of said State, be formed out of the territory thereof, which shall be entitled to admission under the provisions of the Federal Constitution; and such states as may be formed out of the territory lying south of thirty-six degrees thirty minutes north latitude, commonly known as the Missouri Compromise Line"

Number 13 is impressive. 43 feet of rain in 24 hours is a BUNCH!!! Texas may be large, but Colorado has more land surface area.

for what it is worth Harold, you better hope they don't Piss us off and we break away from the USA and form our own country, cuz the rest of you will be out in the cold...........

Texas supplies 80% of the Gas to heat your homes,

and we supply most of the Fuel you use to drive around in your vehicles...

we have our own Ocean ports.

We have our own Space program.

we have our own computer based companys.

we supply biggest amount of beef and poultry for the US.

and we supply a big part of the Electrical power.....

and we also have enough armed forces to for a Very Large Army

So in essence if we break away
You starve,
learn to walk instead of driving or ride a Bicycle..
and you also get very very cold without heat....

so who gives A f%#k now??? as you so put it???

so what do yall supply? other than nothing?

I love you too man. It makes me feel warm and fuzzy knowing that your always thinking of me.

As for running the new Republic of Texas- Don't worry it won't be a socialist state because the problem with socialism is that eventually you run out of other people's money to spend.
