Oh, man, born and raised there.
Magnolia Gardens on Highway 61. Also, Boone Hall plantation. Tell you what, google "plantations charleston sc" and see what I am talking about. Lots of tours there.
Charles Towne Landing. Zoo of indigenous animals and a small wooden ship I used to pretend to be a pirate on when my dad's car club would have shows there.
The Yorktown, an aircraft carrier which has a lot of military stuff there, like a small museum. The dad of one of my best friends growing up did a lot of military models, like 1:32 scale diaromas and airplanes, and for while they were displayed there.
Walk or drive around the houses on the Battery downtown. Bee-yooo-tiful houses. Oprah tried to get one and the historical foundation declined her!
Take a carriage tour, a ghost tour, or better yet, a pub tour. They also have a pirate tour! Lots of pirate history there.
Great restaurants downtown. Some good ones on Isle of Palms. Folly Beach is where the locals go, though, for bars and beach.
Angel Oak park is neat, based on a 1500 year old oak tree. You have to see it in person. The limbs are so big that they go back into the ground, root again, and spread out even more.
And, what Charlie said, Fort Sumter. Oh, and go to the Citadel, the military college downtown. They fired the shots on Fort Sumter, and it's just a cool little place. I took a class there one summer.
Geez, now you are making me homesick.
