It looks and sounds really good. You've got it tuned up and running right where it should. In the left lane, when the car comes off the concrete, and really makes a move hard to the right. I'm guessing it's a rough old track. I liked it when you spotted that Chevy powered dragster a big handicap start.
Are you running carbs or toilets? How high is the top of the scoop above the vent tubes if you're running carbs?
The car runs a pair of Ron's terminators. The car would probably have been just as quick with a single but the pair on the tunnel ram looks better. The scoop is pretty shallow because we wanted to give the driver as unrestricted a view as possible, maybe 3" at the front and 2.5" at the rear to the top of the throttle body.
The track is 40 years old and still has most of the original surface. The concrete pad is 330' and has heaved pretty badly with our Canadian winters. Some sections of the pad are pushed above the asphalt 1.5" and in other spots it's gone that much low so it's a roller coaster. There is no doubt the car is a handfull on this surface. Running off the concrete is like falling off edge of the world! On the smoother tracks like Napierville it's on a string.
We are probably nuts to run there but it's just too expensive to travel.
The real heavy hitter's at the track are amazed we are able to get down the track, they've told us that no altered has ever been close to the speed of ours at that track. Probably why all the fast guys run dragters with us being the exception. There were a couple of roadsters there last year and they were running mid 5's.
The track operator leases the track and owner won't put any money into it. There is rumor that a group of local businessmen are planning on putting up the money to resurface the track possibly for next year.
The track operator pays out the money so he keeps the competitors coming back. Regular weekends are $1000. to win. There is a big event coming up that's $10,000. Saturday and $10,000. Sunday. The track will be packed for that one and there will be cars from the US for that one. Even Peter Biondo has come up for that event.
